A: Voiceless ‘th’. Content words such as nouns, verbs and adjectives make the unvoiced ‘th’ sound.  Example:  Thunder (noun), think (verb) and thirsty (adjective)

Match the voiceless ‘th’ word to its picture with a line.

 

Read the passage, circle the words with voiceless ‘th’ sound.

  Yesterday my brother turned thirteen years old.  We threw him a big party and invited all of his friends.  The party was going to be outside but the weather changed that because a thunderstorm hit. My mom told everyone to grab their things and go inside.  We were thankful to be inside.  My mom lit the candles on the cake and we sang the ‘Happy Birthday’ song.  I think my brother was so happy and he said we were all so thoughtful.

 

B: The voiced ‘th’ sound. This sound is usually for function words
like: their, the and them. The ‘th’ sound vibrates as it leaves your mouth.
