Unit 2: The New Pandora’s Box

A. Syllables: Every time you open your mouth to speak you are making a new syllable.

Rules

  1. Divide the word between the consonants.  Eg.- bas/ket, let/ter or din/ner.
  2. Usually divide before single middle consonant.  Eg.- re/port, o/pen or i/tem.
  3. Divide compound words, prefixes and suffixes.  Eg.- cup/board, un/happy or hop/ing


Divide the words in each section into syllables with a ‘/’. Eg.- ta/ble
