A: Word Linking

Words link together when one word ends in a consonant and the next word starts with a vowel.  Examples:  will~ eat, work~ out or but~ if.
Words also link together when one word ends in a vowel sound and the next word starts with a vowel or with a /w/ or /y/ sound. 
Examples:  Why-y are you-w-always so late for school?

Read the passage and note the word linking.

                 

 

Link the words together in each sentence.

B: The ‘oo/ue’ sound as in too and glue. Glue and Too rhyme with flew.

 

Story: Read the story and circle the ‘oo/ue’ words with the ‘ew’ sound.

It’s the start of another school year. I looked around my class and saw many friends from my P5 class. It’s cool that so many of us are together again. I am sitting next to Sue because our teacher let us choose who we can sit next to. She has been a true friend to me since P1 and we always help each other and share our feelings too. This will be a good year!
