A: -ment:  We add the suffix ‘-ment’ to change some verbs into nouns.
Examples: agree + -ment → agreement or amuse + -ment → amusement

I. Listen and read the poem with using the suffix ‘-ment” .

We had an agreement, or so I thought.
But then the announcement came and then we did not.
I could feel the disappointment but what could I do?
The excitement was gone when the offer fell through.
Was it because of the argument that we had?
Sometimes, improvement is seen only as bad.

 

 

 

B: -ness:  We add ‘-ness’ to change some adjectives into nouns.

Dear Mr. Lee,

      I want to thank you for all the kindness you have shown me this year.The happiness in your heart is there for all to see. I tried very hard to show you my eagerness to learn in your class. Now that I am graduating I have learned selflessness and look forward to my future.
