Double Consonants: A double consonant is a consonant that is repeated in a word and it makes the vowel before it a short vowel sound.

Eg:  tapped, dinner and robbed   (first vowel in each word in a short vowel sound)
taped ,  diner   and  robed      (now the first vowel is a long vowel sound)

Tommy was a lazy boy, he never went swimming or running.  He always ate fattening food such as pizza with extra pepperoni.  He would never eat healthy food like apples. Tommy really needed to get fitter.  He started to exercise.  Every day he would go swimming or jogging.  He started to feel different and he was so much happier.  Now he is a healthy boy.
